The noble carp has a long and storied history. The carp assumes mythological and fairy-tale persona in eastern cultures. In Chinese folklore, it’s said that if a carp is able to swim up the Longmen Falls, also known as Dragon’s Gate, it will be transformed into a glorious dragon. So, the carp is considered as being symbolic of human lifelong triumphs and accomplishments. The carp started out in Asia, and were brought from Western Europe into England in the 13th century. Afterwards the carp was developed into a food fish. While I will continue to put my catch back in the water, I have a high regard for the carp’s extraordinary past. Even though it pleasures me to stalk nearly every type of fish, the carp is the one that I’m really passionate about fishing for. During the course of many years, I have obtained an expansive assortment of carp fishing tackle. One piece of gear I reach for quite often is my Daiwa Basia Air QDX reel. Continue reading to discover why.
Carp Fishing Tackle Major Elements of the Daiwa Basia Air QDX Reel
Don’t get me wrong, this is not a low-priced piece of carp fishing equipment. Priced at about £550.00, it’s an investment, but one that will serve you very well. When it comes right down to it, if my fight is with a fish that may change into a dragon, I could use every bit of assistance I can muster up! A facet that really excites me with this reel is the fact that it is very lightweight. The design team at Daiwa has really gotten it right with the QDX reel, creating a full-featured piece of carp fishing tackle with a weight of only 445 grams. Moreover, I am satisfied by the use of a light, yet robust material in the reel, identified as Zaion – a high-density, tremendously resilient carbon resin. Zaion blends quite a few affirmative components, like being lightweight, extremely strong and anti-corrosive. It is so much sturdier than magnesium. The reason I like it is because a Zaion-based reel transmits vibration through the reel more efficiently than other materials such as resin or graphite.
Carp Fishing Tackle: Further Information on the Daiwa Basia Air QDX Reel
The QDX reel sustains a 45mm spool profile, along with a 4.1:1 retriever ratio. I can appreciate the statuesque, innovative style of the reel, all the way from the AirMetal alloy body to the well-built Zaion rotor. The spool is double anodised for strength and durability, and the reel features Daiwa’s popular QD drag engagement and vaunted stainless steel AirBail feature. The QDX is built with 8 durable ball bearings, including 5 CRBBs (corrosion-resistant ball bearings), and has a high-impact line clip. Also included is a precision, machine cut aluminium handle. The rotor arms are vented, and on the spool skirt, the reel includes starlight holes. Furthermore, it offers endless anti-reverse. The reel can carry 240m of 12lb test line. Together these elements meet to make the QDX reel an outstanding value that provides better line lay, with all casts.
For the ultimate in carp fishing tackle, I highly recommend the Daiwa Basia Air QDX reel.
